A WORLD CLASS MASTERCLASS IN COCKTAILS
Learn how to make delicious cocktails with resident 1885 mixologist Alison Kwan, who has placed second in the Diageo World Class New Zealand, the world's most prestigious bartending competition. Learn the stories and history behind the drinks and how to make our World Class cocktails like:
Tanqueray gin, homemade cucumber and lemon-lime sorbet, crème de violet, chamomile and citrus bitters, aloe vera soda, and Himalayan pink salt. Served as a tall and refreshing drink.
The Soul Reviver
Chrysanthemum tea, Tanqueray gin, sweet crabapple jelly, fresh basil, honey, lemon juice, egg white, and cardamon tincture. Served up in a coupette glass.
Rose, pink peppercorn, and vanilla shaken with Tanqueray No. Ten, raspberry compote, Cointreau, lemon juice, and fresh rosemary. Served over crushed ice in a julep tin.
The masterclasses, though educational and inspirational, are also informal, fun, and interactive. Questions are encouraged throughout the class. Although we love for participants to get completely hands-on, we also have an additional mixologist coming around to help you with mixing ingredients, shaking cocktails, and garnishing drinks.
All supplies will be provided as well as opportunities to enjoy the drinks amongst the group.
Unless otherwise stated the masterclasses run Wednesday - Saturday from 6pm for groups of 4-15.
The cost is $90 per person. For this you will receive three cocktails, complimentary canapés during the session and an education on classic and contemporary cocktails from a World Class mixologist.
The classes take between 90 minutes to 2 hours.
